RIM’s BlackPad tablet to run QNX developed OS

BGR (via Bloomberg) has an article stating that the new Blackberry Tablet – the “BlackPad” – will run will run an operating system designed by QNX Software; QNX is the software company RIM acquired back in April.

Bloomberg quotes anonymous sources with knowledge of the matter, and speculates a November launch for the device.

Is the market really ready for another tablet OS? With the iPad iOS, Android popping up on new tablets daily and Windows 7 full and embedded headed for tablets does anyone want another platform to contend with? Granted Crackberry addicts may buy it if there’s tight integration with BIS but it will need to offer something more if it is to get a foothold in the fast developing tablet market.
