Windows Phone 7 supports USB tethering at no additional charge?

Richard Dudley, evangelist for the Window-dev-tool-building site ComponentOne posted today on Twitter that Windows Phone 7 would support USB data tethering to devices, and that carriers would not be allowed to charge an additional fee for this service.

This would be a first since every carrier both in the US and UK/Europe charges an additional fee for any ‘official’ tethering solution for a device. Some of the HTC Android phones have “Hot Spot” ability built in to enable WiFi tethering for free, but no devices allow USB tethering for free at the moment. Richard further clarified the source of information:
