Its been almost exactly a month since the HP Tablet YouTube video was leaked, but HP have finally announced the HP Slate 500 tablet. Although there has been a shift of emphasis with the Slate 500 now being aimed at the enterprise/business market, its available for anyone to buy. Anyone who has $799.00 to spend that is.
The key specs are confirmed as:
- Intel® Atom™ Processor Z540 (1.86 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB)
- Windows 7 Professional
- 2GB SDRAM
- Up to 64GB SSD
- 8.9″ diagonal WSVGA wide-viewing angle touchscreen
- Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500
- Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video Accelerator
- SD Card slot
- Integrated 3 MP camera; Integrated VGA webcam
- 2-cell (30 WHr) polymer
- Digital Pen Stylus (oddly without a slot)
The price is the most negative thing here, for what is essentially netbooks specs and innards, however you do get a full blown Windows OS for loading any software onto and it includes an HDMI out dock. Its only available in the US at the moment with “further market expansion” coming.
