Skype has finally released their Android client, available from the Marketplace, bringing VOIP calling to Android handsets. Previously restricted to the Verizon network in the US the software is now global (excluding China and Japan). You can make Skype to Skype, or Skype Out calls over 3G or WiFi, (although it’s apparently WiFi only in the US), and requires Android 2.1 or above.
7/10 – Update: Dorid Forums user xeudoxus has hacked around and managed to get the US Skype Android client to run over WiFi – details here.
