Steve Jobs took time out on yesterdays earnings call to launch into a number of things that are clearly on his mind. He started by throwing into question Android sales figures and reported market share, saying that 275k iOS devices were activated on average per day last month, compared to Android’s most recent estimate of 250k per day.

Then came the issue of Android Tablets – in Steve’s opinion there is too much fragmentation going on in this space, with the various form factors now appearing and the multiple versions of Android still running on different devices. “We believe integrated will trump fragmented every time.”

The most interesting part came at the end however, when he announced that 7″ tablets were “DOA” as “this size is useless unless you include sandpaper so users can sand their fingers down to a quarter of their size.” Now it wouldn’t be the first time Steve has announced something to the press and then later gone back on it, but this seriously throws into question the rumours of a smaller iPad model – at around 7″.
