The new HTCSense.com website was announced back in mid September along with the Desire HD and Desire-Z handsets. It went live October 7th but you can only currently use the site with one of those handsets. HTC stated that further handsets will be added to the site in the future, but its not clear if these will only be new handsets, or if it will be opened up to previous Android handsets. If it is, it will most likely be only for handsets upgraded to Android 2.2 as this seems necessary for HTCSense.com integration.
HTC Sense.com has 5 main section – Dashboard, Footprints, People, Messages and HTC Hub
Dashboard – gives you an overview of your phone, its location (if enabled), the ability to forward calls and messages to another device, make the phone ring at full volume, and the ability to Lock and Erase the phone. All helpful if you’ve lost your phone, or even just left it at home when you went to work. Several people online have reported problems with getting the phone location to work, but after some playing around disabling and re-enabling the option we got it working correctly.
Footprints – A view of the locations photos on your phone were taken. You can view them in List of Map view, and also keep them private or share them with other HTCSense.com users.
People – Friends and other users of HTCSense.com. Not sure if this is working correctly yet, as it indicated it had found 53 potential “matches” after going through my contacts, however I knew none of them!
Messages – Remote viewing and sending of SMS messages on your phone, again this would come in very handy if you left your phone at home when going to work.
HTC Hub – essentially the HTC downloadable content from Apps to ring-tones to wallpapers. You can look through and sort by category, release date, popularity or recommendation. What’s really nice is the ability to remotely ‘queue up’ content from the site and have it automatically downloaded to your phone if Free or a Notification appear with purchase details if you’ve chosen a paid download like Music or an App.
