It has been widely rumoured for some time now but Google has finally launched the product page for the new Nexus S a co-developed Android phone from Google and Samsung.
The device specs are listed as:
- 1GHz Cortex A8-based Hummingbird processor
- 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) display
- triband HSPA with AWS support
- 5 megapixel camera
- 16GB of onboard storage
- 512MB of RAM
- Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
- 63.0 mm (w), 123.9 mm (h), 10.88 mm (d) and weighs 129 grams
There’s not exactly a huge jump forward from the Nexus One, for example the processor is the same speed at 1Ghz, the RAM is the same 512MB and the camera is also the same at 5MP. The increased screen size and internal storage are about the only significant changes other than the “Contour display” which we’ve yet to really get details on, other than it being curved, and NFC (near field communication) which has limited use at the moment.
The Nexus S will be available from December 16th in the US and December 20th in the UK from Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy retailers – price is £549.95 SIM-Free or Free on a £35/month or above contract.
