iPad 2 installed in a 2010 F150 truck console

The people at SoundManCarAudio.com in the USA have a video of installing a brand new iPad 2 in a custom mount in the dashboard of the Ford F150 crewcab pick-up truck.

After managing to get hold of an iPad2 on launch day, SoundManCarAudio created a custom dash holder for the iPad2 allowing it to sit front and centre on the dash and act as a media player, navigation device and video conferencing solution. Linked via Bluetooth to the Ford Sync entertainment package and with some custom cabling to allow constant charging with video out options to rear screens the iPad2 proves itself to be a very capable in-car entertainment device! The only drawback was the FaceTime calls with the front facing camera pointing directly down the centre of the vehicle. Additionaly FaceTime only works over WiFi so unless they hae installed a 3G router aswell it will be limited to locations with public WiFi access! Full install video after the break – view now.
