Facebook has announced they will launch ‘Two Factor Authentication’, a new feature to help prevent unauthorized access to your Facebook account.
As part of a new suite of safety tools if you turn this new feature on, Facebook will ask you to enter a code anytime you try to log into Facebook from a new device. This new additional layer of securitywill help verify you as the true owner of the account, and reduce account hijack attempts via social engineering and other phishing scams.
In addition Facebook has also launched the redesigned Family Safety Center with instructions and information on improving your safety and privacy, and a new social reporting tool that allows people to notify a member of their community, in addition to Facebook, when they see something they don’t like.
Having seen a number of fraudulent Facebook account access incidents, we strongly recommend you go and enable this new feature.
