The official Windows Phone Facebook App just hit version 2.0 and finally brings Push Notification ability with it. A nice improvement is the ability to select what kind of push notifications you receive with granularity for messaging, wall posts, comments, photo tagging and more. The notification will also update the homescreen tile app but it looks like selecting the notification just starts the App as normal, rather than taking you directly to the event you were notified about.
