The Federal Trade Commission has approved the deal which will see Microsoft buy Skype for $8.5 billion (£5.2 billion) allowing Microsoft to start its plans for Skype integration into Windows 7 and Windows Phone.
The agency filed a notice of early termination approving the deal, without comment. Microsoft said it will continue to invest in and support Skype clients on non-Microsoft platforms.
