Sony Ericsson have unveiled three new handsets at the Communicasia show in Singapore, the Xperia ray, Xperia active, and the txt
Xperia ray
The ray is super slim at only 9.4mm thick, and available in black and champagne colour. It will feature a 3.3” No-Air-Gap Touchscreen powered by the Bravia engine, 1Ghz processor, has Android 2.3 on board and has an 8.1mp camera at the rear.
The ray specs are:
• 3.3” No-Air-Gap Touchscreen
• Mobile Bravia Engine for crisper images
• Premium slim design – 9.4 mm thick
• Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
• 1GHz processor
• 8.1MP Camera with Exmor R Sensor
• HD Video Recording (720p/30fps) with Face Tracking
• Sony Qriocity Video Service (video-on-demand)
• GPS / WiFi
UK network Three have already confirmed they are picking up the ray, and expect it to be available “this summer”.
Xperia active
the active is a outdoor sports style phone. Its dust proof, water resistant and has a scratch-resistant screen. It also has the Bravia engine powering its display, but only a 5mp camera here, although it does have a distinctive lanyard holder!
Specs are:
- • 3” reality display at 480 x 320 pixels
• Mobile Bravia Engine for crisper images
• Premium slim design – 9.4 mm thick
• Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
• 1GHz processor
• 5MP Camera
• GPS / WiFi
• Bluetooth and RDS FM
Sony Ericsson txt
The txt is an odd phone for SE, with its full QWERTY candybar form factor and runs an unknown but possibly custom OS. It has a 2.6” display that isn’t touch capable, and seems to indicate its a socially slanted phone with the homescreen showing your top friends.
None of the handsets have firm availability or pricing as yet.
