O2 have launched their own mobile app providing discounts and special offers to their customers called Priority Moments. The App is available on both iOS and Android devices and aims to make location based offers relevant and useful, to register for the App O2 customers can text MOMENTS to 2020.
Launch partners include ODEON, Harvey Nichols, WH Smith, Zizzi, and over 3500 high street outlets with offer examples like 50% off top two selling books of the week at WHSmiths or half price adult & teenager tickets at Odeon cinemas.
So we now have another contender in the Location Based Offers space, with O2 taking on Facebook to give consumers discounts based on where they are. O2 are also experimenting with some innovative quick reaction offers which will give them them greater flexibility in the deals they promote, something Facebook doesn’t have yet although if it proves popular I’m sure will be ‘adopted’ in quickly. I’ll be keeping an eye on this to see how it works out for O2.
