Facebook Add Expected Child To Family Settings

facebook logoFacebook has added an option within the Family Settings section that adds “Expected Child” as an option for mothers and fathers to be, along with a Due Date for their arrival. Facebook is presenting this as an option to encourage parents to stop violating Facebook’s Terms of Service which prevent anyone under the age of 13 from having a FB Profile.

Privacy advocates will warn that this is yet another tiny step away from privacy and data security as yet more information is available on Facebook, and of course the hoards of baby product suppliers will be keen to get their hands on this data to more effectively bombard you with offers and sample products. Simply having this data will save them trawling the hospital wards as they currently do.
