HTC have finally announced via their Facebook page that the HTC Desire Gingerbread Update is now available.
The update is not available over the air (OTA) but needs to be downloaded and installed via http://developer.htc.com/. The update will erase everything on the phone, so make sure you have a backup first, and in order to squeeze everything into the ROM a few things have been left out:
The major changes in this update include:
- All customizations, including operator applications, will be removed
- All wallpapers, except the default wallpaper, will be removed and placed online on the HTC Developer website
- Several HTC applications will be removed and placed online on the HTC Developer website
- The official Facebook application will be removed and is downloadable on the Android Market.
