AllthingsD.com is citing ‘sources close to the situation’ with news that Apple will be holding its next big Media event to unveil the iPhone5 on October 4th – just under 2 weeks from today.
While Apple could certainly change its plans anytime, sources said that the Oct. 4 date has been selected by the company to showcase the iPhone 5. Sources added that the plan is now to make the new device available for purchase within a few weeks after the announcement.
They also state that new CEO Tim Cook will play an integral part during the event, possibly even announcing the next iPhone model himself. This will provide some pressure for Tim who has only been in the CEO role for about a month so far, and has to handle a major media event, highly anticipated product launch and live up to the on-stage presence of Steve Jobs.
