The O2 Connect service was announced today. Available in private trial the O2 Connect service allows you to install the O2 App on your iPhone or Android device and have your calls and texts routed to it over WiFi instead of the cellular network. So if your home or office has bad O2 signal, but good WiFi broadband, you can still get your calls and texts by VOIP over the internet instead of the air.

The service is currently being rolled out on an invite only basis, but it is estimated to go mainstream next year depending on the feedback and usage from the trial.
