Orange UK To Increase Monthly Mobile Contract Costs From January 2012

Orange UK are raising their pay monthly contract prices by 4.34% from January, blaming "20-year high inflation" as the cause.

The increase means a customer on a £30/month contract will see the cost rise to £31.28. The increase will hit customers who signed up before 1st September 2011 as customers after that had the increase automatically built into their plan.

The rise is due to come in on January 8th 2012, but customers whose bill is dated before 8th of each month will not see the increase until February. No word on whether the affiliated T-Mobile will be bringing in similar increases.

Orange stated:

Unfortunately, we’ve had to re-evaluate prices for the first time and are sorry to say there will be a 4.34% increase in monthly plan prices from 8 January 2012.
