“Youths Today Fed Up With iPhones” Says Nokia Director Of Sales & Marketing

In an interview with Pocket Lint Niels Munksgaard, director of Portfolio, Product Marketing & Sales at Nokia Entertainment Global said that young people were looking for something new and cutting edge to pick up as their new phone.

What we see is that youth are pretty much fed up with iPhones. Everyone has the iPhone," he said. "Also, many are not happy with the complexity of Android and the lack of security. So we do increasing see that the youth that wants to be on the cutting edge and try something new are turning to the Windows phone platform.

And he could well have a point. The innovation and fresh look of the Cyan and Magenta Lumia 800’s and the even wider array of back plate colours for the Lumia 710 does give the new Nokia Windows Phones something that makes them stand out from the vast array of ‘black slab’ devices that are stacked up on the shelves of phone stores.

Nokia is differentiating themselves in more ways than just colours though, the custom Apps available only on their phones like Nokia Mix Radio and Nokia Drive are also attracting customers. Nokia Drive is a free voice guided Sat Nav App and Nokia Mix Radio allows users to listen to streaming music from a catalogue of over 15 million tracks, not only without cost, but without the need to even sign up for an account.

Both of these custom Apps scream simplicity – not in terms of features, but in terms of use, and that, coupled with the general ease of use of Windows Phone is what is starting to grab the attention of those bored with Apple and Android.
