Dell Unveils First Ultrabook At CES – XPS 13

Dell has unveiled their first Ultrabook at CES2012, the XPS13. One of the most price competitive Ultrabooks announced at CES the XPS13 features edge-to-edge Gorilla Glass for a near “frameless” display, great battery life and a strong chassis made of part aluminium and part carbon-fibre.

The XPS13 is 6mm at tis thinnest point, and 18mm at its thickest. It has a 13” display, in a 12” form factor thanks to it’s tiny bezel, unfortunately its only running 1366 x 768px though. It comes with options of Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, 128GB or 256GB solid state hard drives, and 4GB RAM.

The battery is built into the XPS13 and it not therefore not swappable, which could be an issue for some people. However the 6-call 47WHr battery rated at eight hours, fifty-three minutes of battery life might be good enough for many to manage without a swappable spare.

Dell stated that the XPS 13 will be available mid-March in the United Kingdom through www.Dell.co.uk and February in the USA.

There is no UK pricing announced yet, but US pricing is quoted at $999 making it one of the most affordable Ultrabooks to date. You check out more details in the short promotional video below.
