SonyEricsson have announced the Xperia S Android smartphone at CES2012. The Xperia S has a 4.3” HD Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine and runs at 1,280×720-pixel resolution, making for a excellent viewing experience with vivid colours and super-fine detail.
Although not eye-catching in its looks, it does have a novel transparent strip across the bottom, which illuminates to show the standard 3 Android touch sensitive buttons – home, back and search.
The S unfortunately arrives running Android 2.3 – a far cry from the recent Android 4 ICS launch, however Sony Ericsson promise an ICS upgrade will be available soon, as per most of their Xperia line in the next few months.
The Xperia S also features a 12 megapixel camera with Exmor R sensor that takes pictures in just 1.5 seconds from standby, similar to that found in the Xperia Arc and Arc S, to enhance images in low light. Pictures can then be shared with friends and family in true HD on TVs or laptops.
