Apple announced yesterday that it has sold 3 million iPads since launch on Friday – so in about 4 days! These figures are inline with what we expected, with the new iPad having more tangible features to encourage consumer upgrades than previous S upgrades.

Expected delivery date from the Apple Online store was quickly pushed back as orders rained down on the site yet general availability of the new iPad in physical stores seemed fine, mine was purchased locally with no issues and I was told there were ‘plenty’ left it stock by mid afternoon.

Strongest iPad Launch Yet

Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said:

The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold – the strongest iPad launch yet. Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.
