Speaking at the Media Guardian Changing Media Summit in London, Sky’s Chief Executive, Jeremy Darroch announced that Sky would be launching a separately branded PAYG TV service called Now TV.

Now TV will provide content from Sky Movies and later Sports and Entertainment channels and will be available on PCs, Macs, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, games consoles and connected TVs.

Darroch commented:

Now TV will be available on a wide range of devices and offer instant access to a range of high quality Sky content, with no install and no contract. Starting with movies, it will soon expand to offer sport and entertainment as well. And customers will be able to pay monthly or rent a movie on a simple, pay as you go basis.

No details on pricing as yet, or a firm launch date as yet, but more details will revealed later this year. If priced correctly Now TV could provide an excellent option for people wanting to watch individual movies or sports events without committing to a monthly subscription with Sky.

Currently Sky Go subscriptions, the only non-contract option for Sky, are priced at £15 for Entertainment, £32 for Movies + Entertainment, £35 for Sports + Entertainment or £40 for everything – slightly less than normal Sky TV but only available on laptops, iPhones/iPads and some Android devices.

Customers can register their interest in NOWTV.com by registering on the site.
