When one thinks of tablets, perhaps the first thing that comes to mind is an Apple iPad. In terms of popularity, it’s fair to say that no other tablet comes close. However, this does not mean that there are no other good tablets on the market. Quite the opposite, in fact. Here we’ll consider some of the best ones out there right now. Bear in mind that we’re not listing them in order from best to worst. Any of the following tablets might be considered the best depending on your point of view:

(1) The iPad – It’s difficult to say which iPad deserves to be considered as the best. It would seem that the choice is between the 2nd and 3rd generation models. Tablet fans appear to be divided. Whilst a great many are still figuring out where to purchase ipad 2 slates others are choosing to invest in the new model, which of course comes with an exceptional Retina display. The advantage of Apple’s latest iPad is that this Retina display includes far more pixels than its forerunners. The result? Stunning visuals. For some this is enough to make the new iPad the best tablet out there.

(2) Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 – One of the great things about this tablet is that it’s lighter than both the 2nd and 3rd generation iPads and just as thin as the iPad 2. This makes it a little easier to hold. In addition, it comes with a couple of decent cameras on the front and back and has a nice clean design. The 10.i inch screen is of a high quality, making web surfing a real pleasure.

(3) Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime – The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is even thinner than the iPad 2 and Samung Galaxy Tab 10.1. On top of that, it has an 8 megapixel rear camera and an optional keyboard dock, which gives you the option of using it like a netbook. You also get a smooth and readable screen and a fast processor. Whilst it may not be as popular as the iPad 2, it certainly bears comparison.

(4) Sony Tablet S – Interestingly, Sony were rather late in bringing out their tablet. However, they have managed to produce a worthy device with an interesting appearance. The 9.4″ screen comes with an impressive 1280 x 800-pixel resolution and produces strong, vibrant colors, making it a pleasure to watch videos on. In addition, you’ll be able to look at the screen from a number of different viewing angles, which is convenient if there are lots of people who want to take a look.

And there you have it – 4 great tablets. Which one is the best is up to you to decide. One thing is now for sure – Apple are not the only tablet-manufacturer in town. If you wish to be a little different and avoid the ever so popular iPad, you may wish to consider one of the three alternatives we’ve taken a look at here. Their features and specs are generally very impressive, and they can often be found at a pretty reasonable price.
