Pebble: E-Paper Watch for iPhone and Android – Adds RunKeeper Support

The Kickstarter project Pebble that I invested in a coupe of weeks back has gone from strength to strength. I last reported that it had crossed $2million in pledged funding (leaving it’s planned $100’000 goal in its wake) and has now passed $8million!

I imagine the project founders have run out of words to express how they feel at this amazing show of support for their project, and naturally some additional features have been planned in to add value to this enormous funding commitment.

RunKeeper Support

The first ‘third party’ App for pebble has been announced as RunKeeper. RunKeeper is a smartphone App that lets you “track, measure, and improve your fitness” and uses your iPhone or Android smartphone GPS and sensors to track activities such as running, bike riding and even skiing.

Pebble will connect to your phone and display statistics throughout your activity, something that’s really helpful if you’re trying to improve your performance and beat your personal best.

From the RunKeeper Blog:

When Pebble approached us about integrating with RunKeeper, we loved the idea.  We know that many of you are always looking for ways to make your fitness tracking easier, and with Pebble integration, you won’t ever have to pull the phone out of your pocket or armband – you can just see and do everything you need right from your watch (which connects with the phone via bluetooth).
