Modaco is reporting that a 3G version of the popular Nexus 7 tablet is being prepared by Asus, with a “very well placed insider” stating it will be available for launch in about 6 weeks time. All other hardware will remain the same.
The Nexus 7 is the first Google branded Android tablet released, and runs the brand new tablet optimised version of Android 4.1 – Jellybean.
You can check out my review of the Nexus 7 tablet here. The inclusion of 3G connectivity would certainly be useful, but one of my key positives for the Nexus 7 was its competitive pricing, and if the addition of the 3G radio significantly increased this price (the iPad WiFi only to WiFi + 3G price increase is £100) then I don’t think a £300 Nexus7+3G would be received quite so well.
