Blackberry 10 – the new OS – has been Re-designed. Re-engineered. Re-invented. And it certainly looks fresh and interesting. The new OS from RIM brings new features like Time Shift Camera, BlackBerry Flow, the BlackBerry 10 Keyboard, and the heart of BlackBerry 10, the BlackBerry Hub.
The keyboard that understands and adapts to you, that learns what words you use and how you use them, then offers them up to you so you can type faster and more accurately.
BBM in BlackBerry 10 includes voice calling and video chat, and introduces the ability to share your screen with another BlackBerry 10 contact.
Time Shift, is a new camera feature that lets you capture a group shot where everyone is smiling with their eyes wide open.
Hardware wise, the previously seen Z10 and Q10 devices were unveiled.
It has a Dual Core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB storage. Bluetooth 4, 802.11 a/b/g/n, 4G Hotspot and GPS are all on board, and the camera is a 8MP rear-facing camera, autofocus, 5x digital zoom, 1080p HD video recording.
Blackberry claim a 10 hour talktime and up to 305 hours standby time on 3G (up to 316 hours on 2G).
The edge-to-edge glass and stainless steel build quality should set this aside from the previously QWERTY models like the Curve and Bold.
In the UK, the BlackBerry Z10 will be available beginning tomorrow on pay monthly contracts and pre-pay plans from EE, O2, Vodafone, Phones 4u, BT, 3UK and the Carphone Warehouse. BlackBerry Z10 smartphones will be available fully subsidized on competitive monthly pay contracts.
I love tech things, especially the way they infiltrate our lives without us even realising. I don’t like having to explain how a gadget works to every member of my family though!
