Microsoft has made it clear that SkyDrive is its focus for online storage, with native integration in Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, Office 2013 too has SkyDrive available as a network storage location for all your documents.

The 7GB of free space for all users is a very usable allowance, with Microsoft saying that this was sufficient with over 90% of users, and back in November that they confirmed that SkyDrive usage had doubled in the last 6 months.

Today Microsoft have announced some updates that have been made available to the service, the key new features are:

  • Centralised sharing location for generating shared links to files by email, Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.
  • Improved selection for touch devices, so on new Windows tablets you can swipe right or left on an item to select/deselect them.
  • Improved drag and drop support – in addition to being able to drag and drop files into your SkyDrive, you can now move files to anywhere in the hierarchy of your SkyDrive by using the bread crumb bar as the target
