I’m quite intrigues by how well this might work, a wireless speaker that requires no configuration or connectors, simply place your handset on it and music is routed through it?

thumbsUp!‏ Introduce New Touch Speaker With Near Field AudioSounds to good to be true, but that’s what gadget developer thumbsUp! have announced today with their new Touch Speaker.. The speaker uses wireless NearFA™ (Near Field Audio) technology allowing you to place your compatible device on the speaker, with no configuration or cables required, to “amplify your sound on the go”.

The use of the word “amplify” worry’s me a bit, but it could just be a poor choice of words for what I hope is decent sound reproduction.

Slated for release this month we’re going to review it as soon as we can to find out how it performs, but the specs quote 2.5W x 2 RMS output running on 3 x AA Batteries and being compatible with “most iOS devices as well as Android and other phones containing an inbuilt mobile speaker”.

The Touch Speaker will be available in January 2013 RRP £29.99
