Let your Imagination Run Wild with Circuit Scribe, the Circuit Drawing Pen

There are many different levels of tech, and while most of us are comfortable with things like smartphones and laptops, printing circuits is something most folks aren’t able to do. Enter a new gadget called Circuit Scribe, a pen that lets anyone get technical by allowing them to draw their own circuits.

Making circuits for projects can be a daunting task for newcomers and wiring along with bulky breadboards can be difficult to work with at times. The Circuit Scribe pen eliminates the mess and sends those breadboards the way of the dinosaur as it allows you to simply draw out your circuits in conductive silver ink, pop a battery in place, and watch the magic happen. This makes putting things together a breeze, and really allows your creativity to run free as you can see from the photos. Your kids will definitely be impressed when you magically make paper light up.

The Circuit Scribe kit comes in many variations. For $20 bucks,  you get the pen and an Electroniks LED component while $30 gets you an actual kit with the pen, 2 LED boards, coin batteries, resistors, capacitors and a few other goodies. $40 will get you all the above and a special Circuit Scribe book with pages specially made for experiments. The Circuit Scribe backing levels run from $20-$200 with high level backing tiers coming in at $500 and $5,000. If you pledge $500, you can design your own component and have it manufactured while $5k has the Electroninks team come to your digs for a little show & tell.circuitscribe kickstarter
To say the Circuit Scribe Kickstarter is a success would be an understatement as the team has managed to raise $646,599 of their planned $85,000 goal. They’ve already hit one stretch goal to build a Circuit Scribe educational/STEM platform, and if they can get up to $650,000 a magnetic sheet will be added to the Activity Book and Maker Notebooks. The biggest goal left is the Million dollar goal which will allow them to make a Resistor pen which they can sell for $5 as an add-on.
There are around 30 hours left in the Circuit Scribe Kickstarter, so you can still pick up a pen kit for cheap and help Electroninks try to hit those stretch goals. The first units are expected to ship out in June of next year, so you won’t have to wait long to test out the Circuit Scribe. If you have a child interested in electronics or a tinkerer yourself, the Circuit Scribe is definitely worth a look.
