BlackBerry was in the news a lot last year, and it wasn’t for good reasons. The struggling company has seen its share of ups and downs, but this week a glimmer of hope came through when rumors of a 64-bit BlackBerry smartphone started hitting the web.
We’ve heard tales of a few devices in the works from BlackBerry including the mysterious smartphone codenamed Ontario. It appears that’s not all they have in the works as rumors of an octa-core BlackBerry have picked up steam although the device was said to be slated for a 2015 release. According to Pocket-Lint’s sources… it’s coming sooner than that.
Pocket-Lint has been able to confirm through their sources that the new 64-bit BlackBerry is scheduled to appear in September of this year instead of 2015, and that the 64-bit processor is “100%”. The company is also said to be bringing OpenGL 3 to the platform as well which should improve things graphically.
This is definitely great news for BlackBerry fans as everyone is trying out the octa-core’s this year, and the company would have been a year behind the pack by releasing theirs in 2015. The 64-bit BlackBerry is just one of many devices the company is said to be working on, we’ll keep you in the loop as we learn more.
