Street Fighter has been around for years, but which games will make it on our list? Read more to find out!
Capcom’s Street Fighter franchise is one of the most popular video game series of all time. It started off in 1987 with the original Street Fighter (also known as Fighting Street) and has grown to a point that it has also been taken up by industries other than the video game industry.
The series has branched to multiple forms of media including the film industry such as Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, released in 1994 and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li in 2009. Street Fighter characters have also branched out into action figure toys and collectables. Street Fighter has also seeped into the iGaming industry where there’s an official slot game called Street Fighter II by NetEnt, available on popular new casino sites like CaptainSpins.
There are so many Street Fighter video games that, at this point, it might be difficult to choose which one you would like to give a go first. So, here’s our top 5 most influential Street Fighter games of all time.
5 Most Influential Street Fighter Games of All Time
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (1999)
The 3rd Strike is regarded as one of the best fighting games of all time and it might possibly be the best Street Fighter game, if we had to pick a favourite. The Daigo Parry scene is one of the most iconic moments in gaming history. Street Fighter III has it all – from excellent art to impeccable gameplay mechanics.
Ultra Street Fighter IV (2014)
Ultra Street Fighter IV is another favourite of ours in the Street Fighter series. The game is full of unsurpassed balance, introduces five new characters and ups its level when it comes to new fighting mechanics. If you’re a ‘modern’ player, then this version is for you!
Street Fight V: Arcade Edition (2018)
Available on PS4, Street Fighter V boasts characters from sixteen to twenty-eight while also coming with additional V-Trigger moves and other special features. The only complaint will be that the game comes with in-game advertising during loading screens and character costumes. Other than that, this arcade edition is extremely popular due to its depth of its gameplay.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 (1998)
This version is known for giving players the choice of A-ism, X-ism and V-ism which changes the gameplay drastically. With this 1998 version, players can alter the game experience according to their own style. It was a new step towards game personalisation.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo (1994)
This version adds four new characters to the basic eight characters, including four new bosses. Super Street Fighter II Turbo is also played competitively at tournaments to this day since it introduces a variety of features like super combos and air combos, not to mention the secret character of Akuma.
