Whether you’re new to the online casino world or you visit on a regular basis, you’ll of course have seen or heard about Roulette’s iconic gaming wheel. This wheel has spun through the history books as well as the many decades, since its birth in the 18th century, to become a gaming staple for many players across the globe.

Thanks to modern technology and the advancements within the digital world, the Roulette wheel, along with its table and rules, has evolved from a physical table game onto a virtual platform. Players across the world can now have access to play Roulette casino games online.

So, to get you ready to spin the wheel for the first time online, or to get you feeling more like a pro, we thought it’d be a good time to learn more about this roulette not on Gamstop.

Scroll to read on.

The Roulette Wheel

The blueprints for the iconic wheel were in fact created by accident, when an experiment to create a perpetual motion machine didn’t go to plan. Thanks to French mathematician, inventor and physicist Blaise Pascal trying to do the impossible, we have the iconic Roulette wheel.

The wheel we see spinning around both online and in casino venues across the world, is a little different to the blueprints Pascal drew up originally, but the premise he designed is embedded into it.

The wheel and its numbers

When looking at the wheel, you’ll notice that it alternates between black and red pocketed compartments, each containing a single number between 0 and 36. However, the specific variation of the game you play will determine the number of zeros you’ll find on the wheel.

The American variation contains both a single zero (0) and a double zero (00).

The European variation contains only a single zero (0).

Although the pocketed compartments on the wheel alternate from red to black, you’ll notice the numbers within the compartments don’t run in numerical order. Instead, they’re positioned in a certain sequence, that differs in layout depending on the Roulette variant.

The American variation number sequence is 0, 2, 14, 35, 23, 4, 16, 33, 21, 6, 18, 31, 19, 8, 12, 29, 25, 10, 27, 00, 1, 13, 36, 24, 3, 15, 34, 22, 5, 17, 32, 20, 7, 11, 30, 26, 9, 28.

The European variant number sequence is 0, 26, 3, 35, 12, 28, 7, 29, 18, 22, 9, 31, 14, 20, 1, 33, 16, 24, 5, 10, 23, 8, 30, 11, 36, 13, 27, 6, 34, 17, 25, 2, 21, 4, 19, 15, 32.

The devils game?

If you were to add up each number you find within a Roulette wheel, it totals to 666.

With many believing that the number 666 is the mark of the devil, many players across the world nickname Roulette as ‘The Devil’s Game’.
