When buying a new iPhone or Android device, storage is typically one of the most important factors to consider. It determines how many apps, photos, videos, documents, and other files you can store on your device. So what apps take up the most storage?

All apps take up your precious storage space, from social media to mobile games, but the exact space they consume can vary considerably. So which apps are taking up the most room on your device?

Looking at the top ten apps that use the most storage, it’s clear that games are the most storage-intensive. In fact, each of the top 15 biggest apps are all games.

Two apps are tied for first place, Aerofly FS 2023 and ROME: Total War, both with an initial download size of 4 GB. As you play the games, download add-ons or updates, and save your favourite moments, this will only increase!

To put that into context, an iPhone 12 comes with storage options starting at 64 GB. This means that these games would take up 6.25% of the total storage right at the installation.

These apps often contain high-quality multimedia content, which can consume significant storage. The biggest is the Official DVSA Theory Test Kit, Hazard Perception, and Highway Code app bundle, at 1.4 GB.
