Early Release Leaves Fans Underwhelmed
Google is going to be launching the new Pixel 10 series towards the end of August, but the new handset has already gone on sale in China. Not as an early release, but someone who appears to be selling a pre-production unit.
Uncovered by 9to5Google, the listing shows the new Pixel 10 handset, which appears to look exactly the same as the Pixel 9. However, the item being sold is actually the Pixel 10 prototype motherboard, including the Tensor G5 chip.

What’s New?
At first glance, the Pixel 10 looks a lot like its predecessor. The design, though sleek and refined, hasn’t drastically evolved, leaving some asking whether Google played it a bit too safe this time around. While subtle tweaks are noticeable, they might not be enough to wow those looking for a significant design overhaul.
The main camera is expected to change sensor too, moving to the Samsung GN8 sensor used by the Pixel 9a. Some might see this as a downgrade, but with the quality of Google’s processing, it might not make much of a difference to regular users.
Elsewhere, the design doesn’t appear to be changing: there is expected to be a slight tweak in colours, a new fingerprint sensor, but not a lot else.
With Pixel phones already running Android 16, the biggest shift might come in a wholesale move to Material 3 Expressive, giving the phone a new look at feel. I’m sure there will be some new headline software features too.

While looks may not be everything, a smartphone’s performance often takes centre stage. Here, the Pixel 10 delivers decent specs and reliable operation typical of Google devices. However, with fierce competition on the market, some users are pointing out that the Pixel 10 is primarily offering features that many other brands have already established.
The cameras, always a highlight of Pixel phones, are good—no surprises there. But in a market where competitors are pushing boundaries with DSLR-like capabilities, Google’s enhancements seem incremental at best. Yes, the images are crisp, and the low-light performance is solid, yet it’s not as groundbreaking as many had hoped. Once again, Google might be echoing its past efforts without eyeing the future as intently as its fans would prefer.
The rumoured specifications are not wowing customers. One user on Reddit commented:
With the leaked specs and thus prices I change my mind. Xiaomi 15 or S25 are my choices.
